Model MTS Mobile Taping Station for the SMC-4 Machine

The MTS is a Mobile Taping Station that can be transferred from one SMC-4 Machine to another and docked within 2 minutes time. The MTS is used for the insulating of cores with a minimum inside of 12 inches (305mm). Typical applications are for medium to large CT's and instrument transformers.

    Advantages:

  • Cost less then a stand alone taping machine of this size.
  • Cost less than a dedicated double head machine.
  • One MTS to accommodate multiple winding machines.
  • Avoids timely transfers of the core from winding machine to taping machine.

    Normal Procedure:

1- MTS is docked with SMC-4.
2- Tape program called up on SMC-4 controller.
    3- Tape operation carried out.
    4- Winding program called up.
5- Winding operation carried out. (with Tape Head in place)
    6- Coil complete.
7- MTS transferred to another machine.

Model 3 FDF Fatigue Ductility Flex Tester
Toroidal Winding Machine

Determines Ductility and Flexural Fatigue

for Flexible Printed Wiring
for Copper and Aluminum Foils
or Other Non-ferrous Foils

Universal's Model 3FDF Fatigue Ductility Flex Tester has been developed as a means of testing according to recommendations in the IPC Test Methods manual, 19-23.

Operation

Samples are pleased in an upright position by six rollers with the mandrels moving vertically between the rollers, subjecting the upper sample surface to tensile strains on the upward stroke. The samples are held in precise position relative to the mandrels by a weight, which also serves to assure conformance of the sample to the mandrel curvature.

This weight, 250g for circuits and 100g for foils, subjects the samples to non-zero mean tensile stresses which are small enough to be insignificant. The mandrels are high accuracy rods having diameters ranging from 0.5 to 30mm.

The tester has a 0 to 1000 cycle per minute and may be operated in either a "continuity" or a go/no-go mode.

Manufactured in the U.S.A. by the makers of the most complete line of toroid winding machines in the world.
